As we conclude our year of “Celebrating Women” and this month’s focus on women expressing creativity, we have the great privilege to hear award-winning artist Taylor Gutermute (a.k.a. Patty Taylor) share her personal and artistic journey as an arts educator and visual artist. She will relate pivotal moments with family, friends, and mentors as she weaves her story around “the events in our lives that bring us each to our personal uniqueness as creative women.” She will also share what inspires her work and how she produces her metal sculptures and monotypes.

Since 1992, she has had more than 45 exhibits in addition to corporate collections and public art commissions, including a Del Paso Streetscape sculpture just down the street from our meeting place. Gutermute holds a MFA from the School of Visual Arts in New York City.

Following our morning program hosted by the Sacramento Temporary Contemporary Gallery, we will stroll across the breezeway to enjoy a buffet lunch at Mama Kim’s restaurant and install the 2014-15 Branch officers. We will also have the opportunity to hear from our Speech Trek winner, Jennifer Tang, and scholarship recipient, Brenda Calmelat.
