Meet New Sacramento Member Susan McLearan by Linda Tinker

Susan McLearan joined AAUW Sacramento in 2014, but she has been an AAUW member since 1970.

She is a Clinical Instructor in Dental Hygiene at Sacramento City College and taught at Fresno City College before moving to Sacramento. She has a degree in Dental Hygiene from University of California, San Francisco, and a Master’s degree from California State University, Fresno.

Along with teaching, she has worked for several dentists and as a RDHAP (Registered Dental Hygienist in Alternative Practice). She has had a solo practice in nursing homes and private care.

In addition to her AAUW membership, Susan is also a member of her professional organization and works to advance legislation to increase the scope of practice for dental hygienists.

She joined AAUW because our goals paralleled her interests in women’s issues and education. She served as president of the Visalia–Sequoia AAUW branch.

Susan has two adult children who include her in many of their pursuits. She also enjoys the arts – plays, concerts, and other artistic efforts.

When you see Susan, introduce yourself and welcome her to AAUW Sacramento. She is a great addition to our group.
